Robert Pherigo makes music as a composer, pianist, tenor and conductor. He is very pleased to have been named the 2010 - 2011 Missouri Composer Laureate. A native of Kansas City, Robert attended Arizona State University and received his bachelor's degree in piano performance under the teaching of Arnold Bullock and Robert Hamilton. He then began his performing career in Florida, Chicago and since 1993 in the Kansas City area. Pherigo has sung with the Chicago Symphony Chorus under the direction of Sir George Solti and Claudio Abbado. He also sang with the Kansas City Chorale (Charles Bruffy, conductor) for ten years, during which time five recordings for Naxos were released. In addition to being newEar’s pianist, he has also conducted and performed as tenor with the ensemble.
